Louise Galvin's Mother-To-Be Range

Louise Galvin Sacred Locks Mother To Be is a hair care line created by renowned British colourist Louise Galvin as an addition to her natural and effective Sacred Locks hair and body range, Mother To Be was inspired by Louise’s own pregnancies.

While pregnant, Louise found she needed a little extra help to retain her hair’s shine and vitality and to create volume. She also discovered that she was far more sensitive to smells and that the citrus aromatherapy oils in her other products were sometimes overpowering in the early days of her pregnancy. Louise set about creating a product that was both fragrance-free and extremely enriching, made especially for pregnant women. The result is Mother To Be.

As a mother-to-be herself, Louise was naturally concerned about safety: skin is our largest organ and anything we put on it (from body wash to shampoo) is absorbed into the bloodstream and can find its way to the growing foetus through the placenta. After pregnancy, these same chemicals also end up in breast milk. Many popular cosmetics are made with damaging chemicals that have been linked to birth defects and health problems; others contain ingredients that have yet to be fully tested for safety.

Pregnant women can rest reassured that all Mother to Be and Sacred Locks products are free of the sodium lauryl sulphate, parabens, silicone, petrochemicals, synthetic fragrance and polymers which many women chose to avoid during pregnancy and while nursing.

Instead, the Mother to Be range is loaded with great ingredients that are safe for both mother, foetus and infant, including a pre-biotic formulation that helps calcium retention and promotes scalp health—essential in pregnancy. As a top hair professional, Louise had taken great care to ensure that all her products deliver superb hair condition. In the course of her research, Louise discovered an incredible new, luxury ingredient called Ximenia Oil, also known as Seaside Plum, a rich oil that works like a natural silicone to smooth the cuticle and add moisture without weighing the hair down or causing build up. This delicious ingredient originates from the African Savannah and has for centuries been used by pregnant women to restore natural lustre and gloss.
