Daniel wins the Lifetime Achievement Award
Daniel Galvin OBE is proud to have won the Fellowship of British Hairdressing’s Lifetime Achievement Award at their annual luncheon and awards ceremony today. The award acknowledges Daniel’s service to hair colouring in films, fashion, photographic shoots and to the industry in general.
Daniel started in the industry over 50 years ago when he first became fascinated by hair colour and its power to transform the way we look. This was the era of swinging London, and Vidal Sassoon was revolutionising the world of haircutting. Daniel decided to make it his mission to do the same for hair colour.
The passion Daniel has for the hairdressing industry is evident in the way that he is always keen to develop new colour techniques. His key philosophy is to ‘Enhance Natural Beauty,’ believing that it is not his job as a hairdresser to change a client beyond recognition, but instead to focus his techniques on boosting what the client already has. His celebrated ‘brickwork technique’ which has been picked up by salons throughout the world, is a testament to this philosophy; concentrating on the natural flow of the hair with refined methods to avoid block colour and high maintenance.
Daniel is completely thrilled to win this award commenting: “I am so proud to be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. I have such a lot of respect for the work of the Fellowship of British Hairdressing, especially as my late brother, Joshua, was an esteemed member of their committee for so many years. British Hairdressing is developing so fast and I’m regularly impressed by the incredible talent that is being cultivated in this country. It makes me so delighted to be a part of such a vibrant industry that is continuously evolving and reaching new heights. I thank the Fellowship for their acknowledgment today – I’m so grateful to be honoured by such an admired body.”
